Drafting of Projects and Project Management in the refurbishment and expansion of the National Archaeological

The National Archaeological Museum, located in Madrid, has undergone a profound transformation in the refurbishment carried out between 2008-2014.

This main challenge of this refurbishment was to adapt the building, dating from the 19th century, to the new institutional and technological needs of the 21st century. In this light, the original façade was kept intact and the structures, installations, architecture and interior finishes were fully refurbished, with specific interventions in the outdoor urbanisation areas.

The work led to an increase in the net floor area of the museum, from 27,000 m2 to 30,000 m2, and the exhibition space has also increased from 6,000 m2 to 9,300 m2, distributed in 40 rooms. Prointec drafted all the projects and took on the Project Management. The main work undertaken was:

•    Drafting of the Basic Architecture Project
•    Drafting of the Architecture Execution Project
•    Drafting of Specific Installation Projects
•    Drafting of Specific Foundation and Structure Projects
•    Architecture Project Management
•    Site Management
•    Coordination of Health and Safety in the Project and Execution Phase
