General Urban Planning Plan for Valladolid, Spain

Drafting of the general urban planning plan for Valladolid

Valladolid, capital of the Castile-León Autonomous Region, covers an area of 5,851 hectares and has over 300,000 inhabitants, making it the most populated city in northeast Spain.

The new urban planning plan developed by Prointec establishes the guidelines for reordering and transforming the current city, and lays the foundations for future urban planning developments, according to the current legislation and the specific needs of the local inhabitants.

The city's residents played a key role in preparing the plan. The actions proposed in the document are oriented to three essential aspects: urban regeneration, with the recovery of underused areas in the city; mobility, with new pedestrian and cycling itineraries in open spaces and green rings; and a city model with magnitudes of growth that ensure sustainable development.
