Design of the airfield extension and the new control tower of the Al Fujairah Airport

Prointec has designed and prepared all documentation concerning the construction bidding in a Design and Build mode of the airfield extension and the new control tower of the Al Fujairah Airport in the United Arab Emirates. The project includes memories, plans, technical specifications and the BoQ breakdown. This project also encompasses the structural wind tunnel test of the tower in collaboration with the Superior Technical School of Aeronautics Engineering of Madrid’s Politécnica University, Spain.

Some of the main characteristics of the executed designs are highlighted below:

  • Airport’s new Control Tower will be 52 m height, including a technical and administrative auxiliary building (around 2.850 m2 of net floor area).
  • Aeronautical equipment for traffic air control.
  • New airport runway (Category ICAO E, 3050 x 45 m).
  • Runway extension. Current category E (700 m).
  • New taxiway network: two new rapid exit taxiways of the current runway, connection taxiways between both runways.
