
Design construction of section 2.1 of the Moscow Metro
Bustren PM, a Spanish company specialised in consulting services and engineering of urban rail transport, commissioned Prointec to design section 2.1, included in the expansion of the third ring of the Moscow Metro.
The Moscow metro, dating back to 1935, with a network of 312.9 kilometres of tracks and 188 stations, carries over 2.4 billion passengers per year. Due to the municipality's current growth plans, a significant extension of its network is planned in the coming years, adding up to 49 additional stations along more than 100 kilometres of tracks, thus maintaining the Moscow commuter train as one of the largest in the world.
Prointec provided technical assistance for the drafting of the construction project of 8.5 km of subway double tunnel track using a tunnel boring machine, including the design of the working shafts and ventilation for four stations, one of them being an interchange with other lines of the subway network. In this project, Prointec has managed to combine the design of the tunnel and the stations according to the special needs of the Moscow Subway, including modernity and innovation in the design criteria for a European station, all complying with the Russian regulations in force.
From a technical point of view, each station has a surface area of 10,000 metres2, with an average depth of 20 m, executed using the "Cut & Cover" procedure, based on the ground treatments. The stations have lateral platforms and technical rooms distributed over 3 levels, including a traction substation.
