Control and Supervision of the Construction Services of the New Airport

Since 2016 Prointec provides supervision services of the construction works of the Duqm's New Airport (Duqm Jaaluni Airport) that are being carried out by the Egyptian construction company Hamza.

The industrial and business city SEZAD (Special Economic Zone Ad Duqm) is presently under development and construction in Duqm, a megaproject comprising a refinery, a port, an airport and a multitude of industries (large, medium and small) and residential areas. The airport opening, under the Omani Transport Ministry, aims at encouraging the international trade.

Amongst the construction supervision works developed by PROINTEC, the following stand out:

  • Construction supervision of the New Passenger Terminal Building, the Control Tower, the fire detection and extinction building, as well as ancillary buildings. 
  • Supervision and support for the BHS implementation.
  • Supervision and support for the IT systems implementation.
  • Support on airport and operations certification.
  • Support during the ORAT phase.

The main characteristics of the new airport under construction and its associated infrastructure are detailed below:

  • Passenger Terminal Building: capacity for 500,000 passengers per year, surface of 5,600 m2, 2 PBB and 5 check-in desk.
  • Cargo terminal building with capacity for 50,000 tons.
  • Main runway of 4,000 m long and 75 m wide.
  • Control Tower of 37 m high.
  • Building for the Fire Extinction Service.
  • Ancillary buildings.
