Riyadh Metro, Saudi Arabia

Review and completion of the construction design for Line 5 of the Riyadh Metro

The city of Riyadh currently has 5.7 million residents with a forecasted 8.3 million by 2030, and currently supports more than 7.4 million daily journeys, the majority of them in private transport. To cover part of the demand using mass public transport, the Saudi Arabian authority launched one of the most ambitious urban transport plans in the world: The Riyadh Metro.

FAST Consortium  is currently carrying out the design-build contract  of lines 4, 5 and 6 (64.6 Km and 25 stations) valued at 6.07 billion euros. Prointec was  allocated the review and final engineering design project  of eight deep underground stations of line 5. Line 5 runs along King Abdulaziz Av., between the historic centre and Riyadh air base.

The final engineering design contract comprises  civil engineering, architecture and building facilities. Each of the deep underground stations is made up of three levels with a total area of more than 96,000 m2. In this agreement, Prointec has coordinated a multidisciplinary team of more than 100 engineers, four of which are working at the client's facilities, working under BIM methodology.
