Road safety in the Tunisian road network in

Consulting and auditing to improve road safety in the Tunisian road network

The work carried out by Prointec covers the whole of the Tunisian road network, focusing on the national routes which have the highest concentration of accidents.

The main aim of the project was to identify the deficiencies and requirements of the country's road infrastructure for the purpose of improving road safety. Another parallel aim was to improve general traffic conditions by identifying and tackling road sections and blackspots with a high concentration of accidents through a multi-year programme of actions. This was done using a GIS tool that georeferences all the information.

The works described are framed within a global strategy for road safety in Tunisia, also developed by Prointec. This strategy establishes the institutional and operational lines to consolidate the actions undertaken to ensure an infrastructure management model specifically geared to road safety needs.
